Ankit Sharma, a left-arm spinner originally from Madhya Pradesh, has obtained an NOC from the Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP). He has been representing the Puducherry team for the last few years in domestic cricket.
The 34-year-old allrounder, a veteran of 68 first-class games, was also employed with Siechem Technologies. CAP sources revealed that he has resigned from that job and word is that he will represent Kerala in the upcoming domestic season.
A Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) official, however, said a final decision has not yet been taken. "We have interviewed Ankit. He had come down to Kerala for an interview, but we are yet to take a final decision," a KCA official said.
Ankit featured in 17 first-class games for Puducherry over the last few seasons, claiming 49 wickets with his slow left-arm spin. In 13 List A games for the southern side, he has taken 12 wickets, while in 13 T20 matches he has claimed 11 wickets.
CAP officials said Sidak Singh, who is also a left-handed allrounder like Ankit, will take his place in the Puducherry team. Diddhant Adhatrao, Puneet Datey, and Jayant Yadav have been named as their professional players for the season.
