The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is the latest state association to announce the launch of its own T20 league, with the inaugural season slated for 2025-26.
Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the news to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is actively searching for an appropriate window in the cricketing calendar to host the tournament. Details regarding the number of participating teams and other logistical aspects are still under consideration.
This new T20 league is set to follow the path of other domestic T20 leagues across India, serving as an important platform for discovering talent and providing opportunities for local cricketers to shine. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have already proven successful in showcasing regional talent to IPL franchises. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
